Patexx MULTiFORMAT-FLARE Flare | July 26 2020 | 821 MB We partnered with Patexx for a deep dive into modern dancehall—an influential genre of Jamaican pop music originating in the late 1970s. Its name is owed to the spaces where popular Jamaican recordings were aired by local sound systems. Initially, the genre was a more sparse version of reggae than the roots style, which dominated much of the 1970s. In the mid-1980s, however, digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound considerably and becoming increasingly characterized by faster rhythms.
